The Greater Cleveland Safety Council
Making the Greater Cleveland Area a Safer Place to Live & Work
The Greater Cleveland Safety Council (GCSC) is a community-based organization that promotes safety and prevents injury in the workplace, at home, in schools, and on the highways. Whether at work or play, our safety council works hard to make the Greater Cleveland Area a safer place to live & work.
We help educate in matters of public safety and hygiene, support the efforts of public agencies that promote health & safety, provide members and others who seek assistance with health & safety training, and work within the community to sponsor and endorse activities that promote safety.

Applications are accepted from employees and members of their families of the various Safety Councils who are members of AASC. They also accept applications from the members of these Safety Councils. If your organization is a member of our Safety Council, the scholarship is open to all people employed by your organization and their families.
All interested candidates should click the link below.
The deadline to submit your application for this year’s scholarship is March 1, 2019.
This is an excellent opportunity for you or someone in your family to try and score additional funds for education. Good luck!
Jeane’ M. Furber Award
In 2009, we established the Jeane’ M. Furber Award to recognize an individual who has demonstrated outstanding performance in the fields of occupational safety or health. The award is presented at the Annual Occupational Safety and Hygiene Awards Breakfast. We are currently accepting nominations for this award that will be presented at this year’s awards ceremony that will be held on May 1st.
This award recognizes an individual who is an employee of an organization that is a member of the Greater Cleveland Safety Council and has demonstrated through words and deeds his/her strong commitment to make safety a paramount importance in the workplace. The award recipient’s distinguished performance has made a difference in their organization through outstanding achievement in their safety and health programs. Their actions have reduced accidents and the subsequent lost-time from injuries or have made significant strides in raising employee awareness in the areas of safety, occupational hygiene, and the environmental concerns through education and training. He/she is truly considered a key component in their workplace safety program and an important asset to the organization.
Nominations can be made by completing the Safety Council’s Nomination Form. These forms can be obtained through the Safety Council Office. All completed forms must be received by March 15, 2019. The Nomination Form can be submitted by a co-worker, supervisor or a person in management; however it cannot be completed by the Nominee. All submissions will be reviewed by a Committee and a worthy recipient will be selected. It is possible that an award would not be given out because there were no nominations or the Committee determined that none of the submissions were worthy to receive the award.
The Nominee selected by the Committee will be invited to the Awards Breakfast as a guest of the Safety Council to receive his/her award.
To obtain a Nomination Form you can call the Safety Council Office or click the Contact button.
