October 2020 Virtual Meeting

Fire Safety: New Businesses and

Annual Inspections

With

Assistant Chief Tom Habak &

Randy Kimbo, Fire Safety Inspector

North Royalton Fire Department

October 20, 2020

10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

October is Fire Safety Month, an excellent time to review your emergency fire plans and procedures at work and at home.

Do you dread your annual fire inspection?  Or perhaps your business has never had a fire inspection.  Have you sometimes had the feeling that Fire Inspectors are paid on the number of “violations” they find?  This presentation will explain the background on the Ohio Fire Code and reasons why annual fire inspections are so important.  We will discuss some of the seemingly minor Fire Code violations that are actually a big deal to you and your ongoing business.  In fact, studies have shown that over 85% of small businesses that experience a fire, even a small fire, never reopen.  We will also touch upon some fire safety tips to keep you safe at home.

Tom Habak has been a professional firefighter for 23 years.  He currently serves as the Assistant Fire Chief of the North Royalton Fire Department.  Randy Kimbo has been working as a firefighter/paramedic for over 30 years.  He is a certified fire investigator and a retired Fire Chief.  He currently serves as a Fire Safety Inspector for the North Royalton Fire Department.

The cost of this meeting is $5.

This money will help ease the strain on the Safety Council’s budget due to the current situation.

We deeply appreciate your support and continued participation with our meetings during this difficult time.  Our virtual meeting will be available online to those who registered by connecting to the prescribed link that will be sent to them by email.

Please note that the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation, BWC’s Safety Council Rebate Program has been suspended for the Program Year 2021.
